Andy Shauf: Storytelling in Song

It seems like the older that I get the more difficult it is to find music that hits the melancholy chord which strums louder when the days are shorter and colder. Andy Shauf successfully hits that chord, but doesn't stop there. He tells stories in his songs that stick with you through impressionistic imagery that doesn't give away too much. Wendell Walker (which starts at 13:50 in this video) is an example of this kind of songwriting. Check it out. I just ordered my vinyl copy. I hope he can make it out to Colorado at some point.
